I Am The Way
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5, ESV)
I AM THE WAY
Devotional by: Elijah Bell
“How can I KNOW I’m going to heaven?”
“How do I know I’ve done good enough?”
“How can I be SURE that I’ll be with Jesus when I die?”
These are all common questions for many people. But in asking these questions, we’re unconsciously giving a glimpse into our skewed understanding about salvation and the Gospel.
Jesus’ disciples had this same skewed thinking when it came to questioning how they would get to where Jesus was. Read this passage, and notice their worry and concern about being able to find the way to Jesus:
John 14:1–6 (ESV) — 1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Thomas thought that it was up to HIM to make it to where he could be with Jesus, but Jesus reminds him that he ALREADY knows the way, and it’s not difficult.
Jesus says that HE is the way, truth, and life, and that we come to the Father through HIM, and Him alone. In other words, cling to Jesus as the only way to the Father, and you’ll get where you need to be.
Don’t worry about taking matters into your own hands and trying to find all the best ways to heaven, because there is only one, and it’s in a relationship with Jesus. Cling to Jesus, and you’ll know the way.
Ask yourself this question today: Are you clinging to Jesus with everything you’ve got, or are you just casually waving at Him from a distance a couple of times a week?
So today, as you ask if you’ve done enough, or if you’re good enough, or how you can find the way to heaven, just remember that the way isn’t in what we do, or where we go, but in who we cling to. Cling to Jesus as the only way to the Father today, and His teachings, and you will find yourself where you need to be.
Make Sure To Pre-Register For VBS
All children MUST be checked into our system to attend VBS. That means that you can save a lot of time at arrival by registering your children early so that they are already in the system when you get here. If you don’t pre-register, it will slow things down a lot, so please do so before the event. Thank you!
Yard Signs In The Lobby For VBS
There are yard signs in the lobby to advertise the VBS. Please take one and display it in your yard.
Please Return Your Baby Bottles
As you fill the bottles with donations for Avenues For Women, please return them before Father’s day to the lobby.

Avenues For Women Donations
Each Mother's Day we pass out Baby Bottles to use to collect money to benefit Avenues for Women. It is a community organization dedicated to working with women to choose life and providing a variety of services. They even work with men and post-abortion women. It has a Christ based focus. We started with 72 Baby Bottles. If you have not taken one yet, please get one out of the crates as you come in the main entrance. Let's each take one or two and have such a strong demand that we need even more bottles. The bottles are returned when they are filled. Just place in one of the crates. We try to have them in by Father's Day. Let's see if we can raise $2,000 for this great organization. Remember as Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, writes in I Corinthians 6:19: “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”Thanks for your support.

Sunday Morning Class (10am):
Current Class: Making Disciples the Jesus Way. We are now talking about how to minister to people in “chair two”, or those who have chosen to follow Jesus, but are still learning how to walk in step with Him. We are now looking at 6 fundamental principles that Jesus modeled to His disciples, and how we should also do that with the people we know. You can find the latest notes on the class here: https://www.hollyhillcoc.org/resources
Wednesday Evening Class (6:30pm):
Current Class: Psalms. Last night Kurt got us started with a new class on the book of Psalms. We didn’t get into any Psalms in particular, but spent the class time introducing the book of Psalms and it’s purpose and structure. Next week, we’ll be starting Psalm 1, so read that in preparation for the class.
