Prayer Makes All The Difference

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5, ESV)

Mini Devotional

A mini message to take with you this week to help you in your devotion to God.

PRAYER MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE
Devotional by: Elijah Bell

In Luke 6:12–13 it says, talking about Jesus… “In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles:”

Jesus, the literal SON OF GOD, thought it important to spend ALL NIGHT in prayer before he made a big decision, specifically choosing 12 men to be his apostles.

If JESUS, the sinless son of God thought it so important to pray all night before making big decisions, do you suppose it makes sense that YOU AND I also spend time in prayer before we make life-changing choices (or any significant choice, for that matter)?

Now, from what I know about Jesus and how often He slipped away to pray, I don’t think this was a one-off occurrence, or only for the “important” stuff. I see Jesus as being someone who bathed everything He did in prayer.

Today, let’s try to take a page our of Jesus’ book (literally in this case, because it’s in the Bible), and bathe everything in prayer, and see how it changes your life. Prayer makes all the difference.

  • Avenues For Women Donations
Each Mother's Day we pass out Baby Bottles to use to collect money to benefit Avenues for Women. It is a community organization dedicated to working with women to choose life and providing a variety of services. They even work with men and post-abortion women. It has a Christ based focus. We started with 72 Baby Bottles. If you have not taken one yet, please get one out of the crates as you come in the main entrance. Let's each take one or two and have such a strong demand that we need even more bottles. The bottles are returned when they are filled. Just place in one of the crates. We try to have them in by Father's Day. Let's see if we can raise $2,000 for this great organization. Remember as Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, writes in I Corinthians 6:19: “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

    Thanks for your support.

  • In-Home Small Group Hosts Or Facilitators Needed
We need people to volunteer to host or facilitate one of the in-home small groups, which will be taking place as part of our revitalized Sunday evening activities. It would be once a month. To host, you only need to open up your home for a group of about 8-12 people. If you can facilitate a study, that means you’ll be the one showing the devotional video provided to you by one of the ministers, and helping to guide the discussion using the discussion questions provided.
Please contact Nick Gill if you are able to help with either or both of these.
