To answer the question "Is The Bible From God?" we need to answer two other questions:
1. Has the Bible been corrupted over time?
2. Is the Bible inspired?
If we can answer these two questions, we should be able to say with confidence that the Bible IS from God! We invite you to Bible class at 10 AM this Sunday to learn about the parables of Jesus, then at 11 AM for worship and our lesson on the Bible! We hope to see you all there!

TEAM EMMIE
An Update From The Team Emmie Facebook Page.
PRAYER REQUEST FOR EMMIE FORREST (UPDATE)
It’s been a while, and I have a few updates about our Emmie girl!
Good news first: SHE GOT HER GTUBE OUT TODAY!! Praise God for this long-anticipated milestone! She’s been eating so well and gaining weight they finally agreed we could get it taken out. Thankfully it could be done in the office and didn’t require surgery-As long as it closes properly on its own (please pray it does!)
The next thing, not necessarily “bad” news, just news we weren’t really anticipating.
Yesterday we had to go back to Knoxville for her first in-person follow up appointment with Dr. Savage, the neurosurgeon. Her team hasn’t seen Emmie since we left the hospital back in September! We were so excited for all of them to see all the progress she has made! Everyone was so happy to see her and thought she looked SO good! Very happy with her progress.
We went in with a couple of questions, as some of those got answered we were given new information and things we need to plan for in the coming months. Here is a summary of how that went:
We asked about why some of her cognitive function and fine motor skills had decreased since putting the bone flap back on. Dr. Savage said that her brain compensates for the loss of volume of brain tissue (where the injury is, that brain tissue is dead, so it shrinks up some) with extra CSF. Which is fine, but that extra fluid can put pressure on other areas of the brain and cause issues. So what she wants is to trial her on a medication that decreases the production of CSF and see how she does. If it helps her, then we will have to look at putting in a shunt. If it doesn’t, then we just wean her off the med. We are trialing that for 3 months.
There are some concerns with the bone flap. When you feel the top of her head there is a definite “ridge line”. They said that the flap has sunk down just a little. And then feeling around her head you can feel small “holes” that are exactly like fontanels- or the soft spot on a baby’s head. They said that where her bone was so shattered, even though they were able to put it back on, the body didn’t create blood flow back in some of those areas, so the bone has died creating those holes. Because of this we are going to get some scans done to check and see what it looks like now and then repeat scans in 3 months to see if more bone has died, or if it looks the same. Depending on what that says is what our next steps will be.
Because of the holes, she for sure will have to have another surgery. If the holes don’t get any bigger, then we will be able to essentially just do some “patchwork” and cover them up. If they get worse, then she will go ahead and have to get a custom flap made, and another reconstruction type surgery to replace the bad bone.
Along with that, if Emmie does well with this new medication-meaning she benefitted from the decreased CSF- we will have to put in a shunt, which Dr. Savage will do at the same time as the reconstruction.
All of this kind of caught us off guard to be totally honest. We knew she might have to have another surgery at some point but not really to this extent. So right now we are just in a waiting period to see how things progress over the next couple of months. My goal is for her to have surgery this summer- if we have to do it I just want to get it over with, sooner rather than later.
Please be in prayer with us over all of this! I honestly don’t know what to specifically pray for, other than just saying whatever is best for her in the long run to be done!!
We know that God is not surprised, that he holds Emmie in his hands, and he loves her so much more than we ever could!
HOLLY HILL'S EXCITED TO BE “MUNCHING IN MARCH”
Join us for “Munching In March”! Every household who’s been at Holly Hill for more than a year is asked to invite at least one individual or family who’s been at Holly Hill less than a year over (or out) for a meal. Then, let the church office know (office@hollyhillcoc.org) whom you had a meal with, and we’ll make sure no one is left out. The goal is to foster as many connections within the congregation as possible so we can make all our new people feel welcome and loved! We hope you all join us for this exciting program in March!
